New Look: What do you think?

I decided to start looking around for a new theme since my old one wasn’t programed very well, the load times were too long, and it didn’t have three columns. I looked around for a while and decided on the current look. I really like it and it’s a lot easier to maintain than my old one. I’m still working on a new logo but, for now, I use the old one.

So what do you think? Love it? Hate it? Lemoncurry? Let me know! :D

I think I preferred the other theme, but as long as I can read & navigate I’m fine. But since you asked, I’m going to bruatally honest (but nothing said is personal, feel free to brutalize my own site). I also realize that form follows function, so if this theme makes it easier to maintain, that’s awesome.

I personally prefer two-column layouts since it give the content (which is what I want) more space and a feel of greater importance.

I wish the Submit Article didn’t take up so much verticle space. the related posts could use less “white space” (except it’s textured grey) around them.

Since there are so many categories, they might work better as a drop-down.

I like hard delineation between columns.

I’m not sure if the bright text on dark background works so well, the pure white (or close to it) has too much contrast (and hurts my eyes after prolonged exposure). Try knocking the white down a few notches.

These are just my preferences, and I realize I may not sit firmly within the bell curve of opinion.

@Mad Brew – Thanks for the feedback! I went ahead and tweaked the categories (I thought they were too long as well) and lessened the white text to be less bright. Does that work better for you?

The Twitter graphic doesn’t fit the space its in with the Gravatar.

And I concur with Mad Brew, three columns leaves less room for the content the visitors are here for.

I am a huge proponent of dark backgrounds w/ lighter text. I think it makes the content of the page pop more.

Overall though, I still prefer the last one’s layout to this one, although I think the color scheme on this one is better.

@Mike – The Twitter logo should fit. You’ve probably just got a cached version. I’ll change the name of the graphic so you’ll automatically see the new one. It’s the same logo just made smaller to fit.

Personally, I prefer the 3-column view. As for lack of space for content, I measured with a ruler and there’s half an inch less space, left to right, for content. To me, the trade off for speed and ease of use outweighs the need to regain that space.

Thanks for the comments! :)

Yeah, taking it down a notch works (though I’m on my laptop atm, which makes everything subdued).

theme looks great! I see there is another plugin affecting the links added by commentluv. I downloaded this theme to my local machine and commentluv is working fine on that so it might be one of your comment plugins causing the messed code.

I look again after the weekend

@Andy – Thanks. For now, I’m going back to 2.65. It works just fine.
