Nine days to GenCon!
It is now nine days and counting to GenCon. I have been looking forward to this since last year. It is one of my favorite times of the year and absolute favorite time to be a Gamer. Here is a list of all of the official events I’m registered for:
Yep, that’s it. I have absolutey no official events scheduled. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be bored; oh no. My schedule is absolutely full. You see, for me, GenCon is not only about gaming, it’s about spending time with friends and family. I have a lot of friends that I stay in contact with but I only get to see them once or twice a year and we always have a great time when we do see each other. And this year, my son will be joining my wife and I for his first GenCon. He’s six and I know he’s going to have a blast.
As I said, my schedule is packed. Here’s what I have so far (of course, this doesn’t include what ever comes up at the last minute):
- We get in Wednesday morning. At noon is a friends barbecue at his house that a lot of people will be attending.
- From 6 to 10 is a drinking RPG called “Trailer Park Boys” run by my friend Stuart.
- From 10 to ?? is karaoke.
- On Thursday, I will be running back-to-back games of “Legends aren’t Born, they’re Made” from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm. I’ve reviewed it and my other game here.
- At 10:30pm, a friend is running a “Kobolds Ate My Baby!” game with at least a dozen people. Should be a blast!
- Friday starts with my friend Matt’s “Escape from Cronus” game at 9am to 1:30pm, then my friend Kennon’s “Mutants and Mastermind’s” game from 2pm to 6pm.
- Of course, the big event on Friday is the ENnies. I’m sure we’ll win for “Fire & Brimstone.”
- After the ENnies, I’m running a “StuperPowers!” game for a bunch of folks.
- Saturday is packed as well, with Alenda’s “Halfling Musketeers” game kicking off from 9am to 1pm.
- Then a continuation of Gabe’s “On the Rocks” game from last year going from 2pm to 6pm.
- The Nothingland dinner starts at 6pm followed by a Village People themed “Dread” game from 9pm to 1am.
- Sunday isn’t any easier as my second “StuperPowers!” game goes from 9am to 1pm in the park during our picnic.
- 2pm to 6pm sees the final game in Kennon’s “Scooby-Doo Dread” game.
- 7pm brings the final dinner at which we’re expecting at least 50 people.
- We head out on Monday after saying goodbye to everyone.
- Lest I forget, I will make an effort to meet as many folks from RPGBloggers.com as possible.
Whew! Yeah, it’s gonna be packed. I doubt I’ll get much sleep at all but I’m not worried about it. Like I said before, I only see these folks once or twice a year, so I always try to pack in as much fun as I can.
So what about you? Are you going to GenCon? If so, what are you looking forward to the most?

We’ll see you there! I see you have a small gap on Saturday on 1 PM to 2 PM… a bunch of us from the network will be on a panel during that time, if you really want to meet a bunch at the same time.
Just as long as you don’t run a Fire & Brimstone LARP!
