I typically don't get into the character portrait dilemma because most of my character inspiration comes from browsing danbooru or gelbooru or akibakko anyway, so I can just point at what inspired me and say "that!" Whoa -- what a list! It'll take me a while to check it all out. I've found that DeviantART is a fun place to browse for fantasy art clips.
