RPGBloggers – Let’s write a short story
With NaNoWriMo coming up next month, it got me thinking that I should try an experiment with my fellow RPGBloggers. Well, at least four of them.
Your typical short story is anywhere from 1,000 to 7,500 words. As bloggers, we’re used to writing anywhere from 250 to 1,000 words per post. My idea is to get four volunteers to each write around 1,000 words. I would start the story, laying the groundwork and introducing characters, and someone would start the second chapter. Then someone else would write the third chapter. This would keep going until someone finishes the last chapter, for a total of around 5,000 or so words.
As a community, we have many, many talented and creative people and I thought it would be nice to harness that talent. If all goes well, we may do it again later. If you would like to volunteer, comment here and let me know. I’m thinking the whole thing will start on November 1st and end the second week of December, with each person getting a week to work on their chapter. The final product will be posted around the middle of December.
If you want to volunteer, just comment here and I’ll take the first four.

I find it’s an interesting idea. I won’t put myself forward, as I can’t fathom having to write any bit of a story started by someone else. But I will say it’s an interesting idea. That doesn’t mean much, sure, but neither does a dollar bill. And a dollar bill can buy you a candy bar.
