Sneak Preview: D&D 5E Character Sheet!

If you’ve been following the Twitter hashtag #iHate5e, you know that a bunch of folks are “speculating” on what 5th edition will be like so that they can start the hate now. It was started by Mad Brew Labs and Jeff Reints and collected Aaron at allgeektout and has taken off quickly. Daan van Yperen has gone so far as to collect the information into a netbook for easy reading.

As luck would have it, my source, the same source that slipped me the skills that were rejected during the creation of 3rd Edition, has sent me the new character sheet for 5th edition. It’s… interesting to say the least. For example, you level up after every fifth encounter, skills are all strength based, and you gain a feat at every level. There are some other changes but I’ll let you see them for yourself to draw your own conclusions.

Hey, thanks for re-posting this! The character sheet is awesome, by the way.

I just want to clear something up, though – I didn’t start #iHate5e. This stroke of genius was created by Mad Brew Labs (http://www.madbrewlabs.com/) and Jeff Rients (http://jrients.blogspot.com/). I just gathered a lot of them together.

And don’t forget to check out the errata from Vulcan Stev. (http://vulcanstev.wordpress.com/2009/06/06/i-hate-5e-dd-errata/) I was also about to add the netbook, but it seems like you got that one!

@Aaron – Thanks! I updated my post.

The only problem I see right up front is that they didn’t leave enough room for At-Will Powers beyond 3rd level. Maybe the real character sheet is only available to subscribers?

@Propagandroid – Why do you think there are two CC# slots?

@Propagandroid – The REAL character sheet is actually a web-based program that they will eventually have working by the time 6E comes out on December 20, 2012, right before the end of the world on December 21st.

You really nailed the 5e character sheet, which means you read the netbook cover to cover. :p amazing feat. Just that made my effort worthwhile. :p Thanks!

@Daan – I may have skimmed it. ;) I did use the RAW in a bunch of places and added my own stuff, like leveling up every five encounters and gaining a feat every level. :)
