They need to get a clue and hire an experienced software company to do this work for them. They obviously do not have the personal to deliver. Sure, it will hurt their bottom line, but right now they're going almost nowhere with this.

A year and half after the promised deliver, and we only have a buggy fraction of.

Thankfully their are plenty of online tools that do the job already; less eye candy but they're free.

@Marcel - Yep, that's the thread I linked to above. There really aren't any instructions beyond "uninstall, reboot, reinstall" on page 1. The instructions for deleting registry entries didn't work for me either.

A bunch of WOtC CS people have replied in the thread here (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1141698) with more detailed instructions on how to overcome the problem.

I uninstalled the Beta, downloaded the release and tried to install it. The installation failed. It just won't install.

So I opened a ticket with Customer Service, gave them all the info I had (even uploaded a verbose installation log file) and got a response from the Online Response Crew. The instructions start with "Uninstall the Character Builder..."

Somehow they lost me there.

I am having the same problem and I have posted as much on my blog. I think is the last straw for me as far as DDI goes...

Worked fine for me on a Vista machine

I uninstalled the Beta version as instructed. Then it downloaded, installed and updated without any problems.

@catsclaw227 - Well, technically, I said I was "pretty much" 100% sure. ;)

Seriously though, no I can't predict the future. But I can look back at the previous 9 years and follow Wizards' track record (check out the initial link in this thread for that very post). Based upon that, based upon the current problems, and based upon the fact that I, personally, don't think the current content of Dragon and Dungeon is worth it, I am pretty sure I won't renew.

As for the character generator itself, you're right. It's a great tool. But I don't think one good buggy product, especially when that bug keeps people from updating the program with the latest information, is worth the cost.

I see there are some installation issues, but this is the best character generator we have seen for D&D in a long time, and I would venture to guess, ever.

I had no problems with install, and the tool is amazing.

I am curious how you can say that you are 100% not going to renew after your year, unless you can predict the future and quality of the DDI.

Heck, the price of the annual subscription is already exceeded by the quality of the content in Dragon and Dungeon all by itself.
